  Iris Publishers - Open Access Journal of Civil Engineering Hydraulic Facilities Characteristics along the Upstream Lanchang River According the current hydropower development schedule in upstream Lanchang River, numbers of hydraulic power plants with height over 300 meters will be built in the western region of China. These hydraulic power plants would be in crucial situation with the problems of high water head, huge discharge and narrow riverbed. Spillway is the most common structure in power plant which is used to drainage and flood release. According to the previous research, the velocity would be reaching to 55 m/s and the discharge can reach to 300 m3/s.m during spillway operation in the dam height over 300 m.  Iris Publishers - Peer Review Journals of Civil Engineering Hydraulic Project Development and Corresponding Ecological Factor Analysis Currently, hydraulic project development requires assessment of environment implications. Understanding fish shape, swimming ability and energy cost of the fish during swimming will helpful to design fish-friendliness hydraulic structure. In this paper, a self-propulsion of 3D-fish model has been developed. The interaction of the fish and fluid are taken into account. The fish swimming velocity, torques and energy expending during swimming with different shapes are calculated. The fish swimming ability with different beat frequency (1.43, 0.94 and 0.64 Hz) are also analysed. The study has following objectives: to determine the mechanisms of fish swimming, fish swimming velocity and analyses the energy of the fish expended consider the fish length, body shapes, tail beat frequency.  Iris Publishers - Journals of Civil Engineering Recent Bushfire Impact on Timber Bridges in Northern New South Wales This paper provides preliminary observations and comments following recent field inspection of a number of fire-damaged bridges in northern New South Wales (NSW). The fire event has been described as unprecedented, at least in living memory, with over five million hectares burnt in NSW from September 2019 to late January 2020, comprising mostly national parks and state forest, but also many neighbouring properties and houses. The impact on infrastructure has been profound, with at least three government schools destroyed and numerous timber road bridges damaged or destroyed in eastern NSW. Some roads have been closed for months and are still closed. These events will have long lasting implications. The agreement was about climate actions to reduce the global warming and reinforcing countries strengths in dealing with climate change phenomenon by means of 17 goals. Researchers and engineers can have a significant contribution in successfulness of the Paris agreement. In particular, ground improvement in geotechnical engineering can have an effective role in promoting goal 12 of the UN SDGs to ensure sustainable consumption and production pattern. Iris Publishers - Open Access Journals of Civil Engineering Compact Urban Constructions and Disease Outbreaks In 2017, I wrote a paper questioning the unproblematic promotion of compact urban constructions in developing countries not only on social grounds but also in terms of its linchpin of car travel reduction: “If a 5% reduction is assumed in car travel distance in the sample districts in the context of density, and, under the optimistic scenario, that the time-distance ratio is 1 in high density areas, this finding feeds into the conclusion that high density might have had no positive effect on, or even increased to a limited degree, the overall time of car travel” [1].
